Count your blessings. It turns out Dumas is one of the best small cities in the United States to live in, according to realtor.com. Dumas came in No. 10 behind cities in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska and Indiana where “crime and unemployment are low, job opportunities abound and buying a home is a relatively light financial burden.”

Realtor.com is the official website of the National Association of REALTORS, and they assessed more than 500 U.S. Census-designated micropolitan areas. At No. 10, the website said Dumas’ unemployment rate is in the top 20th percentile, lowest among all Census-designated metropolitan and micropolitan areas, and the crime rate is less than the national average.
