Deputies find 171 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office reported that two Cactus men were arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies found 171 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.

The report says deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 281 between Etter and Sunray at about 4 a.m. Wednesday and called for the K9 who alerted on the vehicle. The deputies searched the truck and found the marijuana in a hidden compartment. It has a value of about $513,000, the report says.

The deputies arrested Manuel Gonzalez, 25, and Salvador Gutierrez, 23. Gonzalez is charged delivery of marijuana 50 pounds less than 2,000 pounds and public intoxication. Gutierrez is charged with delivery of marijuana 50 pounds less than 2,000 pounds and no driver’s license. Bonds for each man was set at $250,000.
